HOW WE GOT OUR NAME
It began in the late 1880s when a wooden barn was sliced in half, converted into a garage, then into a summer
cottage in a small sailing town, and now since 2009, a small work/live design studio. During maintenance and renovations,
we found many layers of wallpaper dating back to the 1920's.
We felt that "Wood" was appropriate to honor the natural wooden medium that we so love and cherish, combining a play on
"haus", paying homage to the German Bauhaus which is so famous for its style in creating a "total" work of art in which
all arts are brought together.
Our name is a daily reminder of how combining all of the arts into every project we complete, along with our love of old
things, organic materials and technologically forward-thinking can stand the test of time.
